Michelle obtained her Masters of Education in Divergent Learning and Bachelor of Arts in English with Teacher Certification from Columbia College in Columbia, SC. Her degree in Divergent Learning and Honors endorsement have allowed Michelle to work with students who may not work or learn in traditional ways. Michelle has also been the SAT/ACT English coach at The Academy for the Arts, Science, and Technology for four years. The Academy has seen steady gains in SAT test scores over the past two years and ACT scores for the 2013-2014 school year surpassed district, state, and national averages. In addition to working with non-traditional students and coaching students for the ACT and SAT, Michelle also does extensive work with the district to align the state standards with the high school curriculum. During her undergraduate time at Columbia College, she worked closely with the Office of Admissions, learning that many colleges (specifically private colleges) are searching for and providing substantial aid for students who not only understand academic rigor but also have a desire to be global citizens. In addition to her academic duties, Michelle is also one of the Student Council advisors. In her role as advisor, she reminds students of the impact that being active members of Student Councils and school organizations in general.
