Hello, I am Emily Butler, M.Ed.

Transitional Specialist and College Planner for Students.

Emily Butler is representing the Upstate of South Carolina.  With a Masters Degree in Counseling Education and a B.A. in Communications, Emily has been a college counselor in the public and private school system for 8 years.

Emily started her counseling career in 2013 working with 9th graders in the Greenville County Schools system. Once the college counselor at her high school moved on, Emily jumped at the opportunity to work with seniors. After becoming well versed in post-secondary education and helping others achieve their dream school, she moved into a more intentional role of assisting students in 2018.  As a full-time college counselor in a local private school, her daily responsibilities include college/postsecondary consulting one on one with juniors and seniors, writing letters of recommendation for each student, career counseling, course advisement, scholarship management, etc. The biggest takeaway she imparts to students and parents is finding the right fit for life after high school.

Emily has been fortunate to walk alongside students and parents as they start the process of college planning.  She has seen her students accepted to Cornell, MIT, Northwestern, Duke, Chapel Hill, and hundreds of others.  She has written countless letters of recommendation, actively visits college campuses, and sharpens her relationships with admissions counselors across the country.  Additionally, Emily is a member of NACAC and SACAC, a volunteer college counselor for GirlUp GVL, as well as a co-chair for the SACAC Public School Initiative. Emily is currently working toward her Independent Educational Consultant license.

Emily recently welcomed a baby boy in 2019 with her husband and they reside in the Upstate of South Carolina.  When not chasing her toddler around, Emily can be found running, eating sushi and cheering on the Clemson Tigers!
