Diane Lee brings a wealth of educational and public relations experience to the CBC (in blue) team. Her distinguished career in education and administration has allowed Ms. Lee to develop a unique perspective that is invaluable in helping students succeed in high school and beyond. She brings a flair for the original and grasp of community relations that is vital to help students craft a fresh admissions approach. Diane has been the Greenville County School District Fine Arts Coordinator since January of 2006. Her responsibilities include oversight of the music, visual arts, theatre, chorus, dance, band and strings programming in grades K-12 in Greenville County. With the ten Lead Arts’ Teachers, she coordinates sixty annual in-services for visual and performing arts teachers, as well as organizing an opening day “All Arts Day” event with Greenville Forward, which engages all 300+ visual and performing arts teachers in workshops and seminars.

She represents the school district in partnering with community arts organizations, thus ensuring arts programming both within and outside of the established daily arts instruction in the schools. Initiatives with the Greenville Symphony , the Metropolitan Arts Center, The Peace Center, The Warehouse Theatre, Centre Stage, Greenville Little Theatre, Artisphere, Greenville Forward and emerging arts events such as the Aids Upstate Art Show and Sale, “Best Singer in the District” Awards event and the Tedx Greenville event, ensure “real life” arts experiences for GCSD students on every level.

Ms. Lee writes and coordinates grants from the State Department of Education and the South Carolina Arts Commission, enabling professional artists to come to the schools for artist residencies and providing special innovative projects designed by individual teachers for implementation in their schools.

She teaches Theater workshops through the “Summer Academy” in the District and works on District programs in the Student Performance Department for the District. She also schedules all music, art and physical education teacher placement each year. Formerly, Diane Lee taught theater arts for 28 years, both in Anderson, South Carolina and Lexington, Kentucky and directed over 40 plays and musicals during her teaching career. In the early 90’s, Diane was the Executive Director of the Anderson County Arts Center for seven years, supporting artist gallery exhibitions, coordinating the artist in Education programs in the schools and running the Art Center’s Art School. Diane is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she majored in speech and drama and minored in English. She also has received her Masters in Public Address and Group Communications from Northwestern University; and, has completed numerous continuing education classes in gifted education, theater and communications over the course of her career in education.[/vc_column_text][vc_gap height=”50″ hide_under=””][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
