Why Test Prep is Important for High School Students

As you go through high school, preparing for college admissions is one of the toughest but most rewarding challenges during high school. Although some colleges have moved to be test-optional, standardized test scores are still an important factor that colleges consider when evaluating applicants.

The SAT and ACT measure your knowledge and skills in multiple subjects and are used by schools to assess your potential college success.

Standardized test taking can be a dreaded task, however, there are many benefits to investing your time and energy into SAT/ACT prep.

Improve Your Test Scores

Participation in test preparation can significantly increase test scores. Test prep consists of learning test-taking strategies, tips for tackling difficult questions, practice questions, etc.

To achieve success, it’s essential to remember that consistent practice is key. Attending only 1 or 2 sessions won’t yield the desired results.

Keep practicing every week, and you’ll soon reap the benefits!

Overcome Test Anxiety

Test prep can alleviate test-taking anxiety.

With the SAT and ACT being such high-stakes tests, the more practice you get, the more it can help replicate a test-taking experience, making it a much more enjoyable experience on test day.

Master Academic Strengths and Weaknesses

Taking practice tests and participating in test prep can give you a better understanding of your academic strengths and weaknesses.

At the College Planning Center, all our students take a diagnostic ACT or SAT to understand their strengths and weaknesses, which allows our test prep tutors to individualize your sessions.

By understanding your strengths and weaknesses before taking the SAT or ACT, you can focus on improving in areas where you may struggle.

This will boost your confidence and help you achieve your full potential on the exam.

Develop Strong Study Habits

By preparing for the SAT or ACT, you are not only setting yourself up for success on the test but also developing strong study habits that will benefit you in the future.

Remember, the SAT/ACT is just one of many important tests you’ll take in your life.

Whether you’re pursuing a career as a teacher and will have to take the Praxis, or are in nursing and will have to take the NCLEX, being consistent with test prep will help you achieve your goals and pass with flying colors.

Scholarship Opportunities

By working hard to perform well on the SAT/ACT, you can open doors to scholarship opportunities. Many colleges and universities offer merit-based scholarships for high test scores.

Participating in SAT prep is the first step towards realizing your goals and unlocking a brighter future.

SAT prep can be a valuable investment in your future!

Time-consuming, yes, but definitely worthwhile.

No one has ever regretted investing their time in something that will help them achieve their academic goals!

At first, I was a bit hesitant about the cost of working with Chris, the college planner for my son. However, it absolutely paid off in the end. My son was accepted into every college he applied to, and the guidance and support throughout the process were invaluable.

I cannot recommend Christopher Parsons highly enough for his work with students navigating the college application process. Christopher began working with my son, Harrison, at the start of his senior year — which was a relatively late start for college planning — yet he immediately brought structure, clarity, and momentum to the process.

We highly recommend Christopher Parsons of College Planning Center. We had some unique needs, and he was able to create trust with our senior. Our family is so pleased with Christopher’s help.
