2026-27 status: the official program site reports the 2026-27 application has closed because the statutory student cap was reached. Families can join the ESTF waitlist there to get updates on the 2027-28 application. (Checked 3 Oct 2026.)

How the ESTF scholarship works

South Carolina’s Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF) provides a $7,634 scholarship per student for the 2026-27 school year, for families with household income up to 500% of the federal poverty guidelines ($160,750 for a family of four). Approved uses include tutoring, educational therapies, and out of district attendance fees. Funds are managed through ClassWallet. Once a student is approved, the family gets a welcome email with instructions for accessing the account, funded in quarterly payments starting in late July.

Homeschool students and ESTF

Important: students homeschooling under Option 1, 2, or 3 are not eligible for ESTF in 2026-27. If that applies to your student, ESTF isn’t a funding path this year, though it’s worth confirming your specific status with SC DOE since rules can shift year to year.

What families ask us most

For families in Murrells Inlet, Mount Pleasant, and across the Charleston metro and Grand Strand, we hear two questions most: whether a given homeschool option qualifies, and whether an approved account covers SAT/ACT prep. Schedule a free consultation and we’ll walk through your situation.
